Book Review - The Last Summer (of you and me), Body Surfing and What You Have Left

The Last Summer (of You and Me) by Ann Brashares
I really liked this book. It was about two sisters and their guy friend and a crucial summer in their lives. It is a quick read and quite mesmerizing. Brashares competently captures the conflicting, emotional and life defining decisions of youth. I found the characters real and the beach setting dreamy. Great summer read!

Body Surfing by Anita Shreve
A really fast, light and easy summer book. Also set at the beach and involving a love triangle of sorts. If you like Anita Shreve, you'll like this book. I wouldn't call it memorable, but I enjoyed it all the same.

What You Have Left by Will Allison
This was a different book. Each chapter is written by a different character and is set months or years from the previous chapter. I enjoyed the challenge of keeping up with the story and the variety of different viewpoints. I didn't really like the main character, which made it hard to care about the story. Still - I'll watch for more books by this author. I liked his bold style.
